Types of Safety Footwear
Safety Shoes:
These are sturdy shoes built to withstand the harsh conditions of a construction site or a manufacturing facility. They usually have a puncture-resistant thick sole to safeguard the person when walking over hazardous materials such as glass, metal shavings and nails. The non-conductive thick sole can also offer shock protection when working with live electrical circuits. The upper material is thicker than a regular shoe, usually made of leather or PVC to withstand harsh chemicals and falling objects. Safety shoes are available in a low-cut design, where the ankle is exposed like a regular shoe, and in a high-cut design, where the ankle is covered like in a hiking boot. The high-cut design is to prevent the foot from rolling if you step on an uneven surface. Safety shoes will protect the wearer from water or chemical splashes, but will not be waterproof if the foot is submerged in a liquid.Safety Boots:
These are waterproof footwear designed to be used in wet conditions and to protect the user's legs above the ankle, sometimes upto the knee. Similar to safety shoes, they also have a puncture-resistant thick sole to safeguard the person when walking over hazardous materials such as glass, metal shavings and nails. The upper material can be either natural rubber or PVC. PVC boots are available in a variety of colours. Natural rubber boots are more comfortable for use in hot weather conditions.Toe Caps:
Both safety shoes and safety boots are available with toe caps, which may either be made of metal or reinforced hard plastic or similar composite material. While both materials will provide sufficient protection for the toes from heavy falling objects, the newer plastic or composite toe caps may be lighter and designed to absorb and diffuse the force of the falling object more safely.Suppliers for safety equipment :
