QUALITY CONTROL PROCEDURES
Selection of logs	Purchasing of Timber logs are mainly done at the depots of State Timber Corporation of Sri Lanka. A well experienced procuring process is carried out by the experienced ICC officers and the selection of logs are carried out through visual inspection complying to BS 5756:2007 (VISUAL GRADING OF HARDWOOD)
Primary sawing	Using Horizontal Band Saw. Accurate thickness of the planks is maintained with accordance to EN 13226:2003 WOOD FLOORING – SOLID PARQUET ELEMENT WITH GROOVES AND/OR TOUNGUES
Chemical Preservation	Vacuum pressure impregnation using Boric acid, Borax treatment mixture according to BS 8417:2003 & 8417:2011 Material: Boric Acid and Borax Mixture Solution strength: 8%
Moisture Control	Kiln Drying using Dehumidification Techniques – according Kiln System Manual – Drying cycle Moisture content: BS EN 13183-2:2002 (MOISTURE CONTENT OF A PIECE OF SAWN TIMBER. ESTIMATION BY ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE METHOD.)
Plank Sizing	Ripping and planning moulding cross cutting and end matching is carried out to obtain accurate dimensions of width and thickness with accordance to the guidelines of EN 13226:2003 (WOOD FLOORING – SOLID PARQUET ELEMENT WITH GROOVES AND/OR TO TOUNGUES)

PAINTING
Staining coat 1	Apply the chosen stain uniformly across all planks to achieve the desired colour
Drying & Sanding	Allow the stain to dry completely in a dust-free environment and sand before applying the 2nd stain coat
Staining Coat 02	Apply the 2nd stain coat uniformly across all planks and once the plank is dried sanding is done prior to top coat application.
Top Coat 1	Apply a selected top coat protect the wood from extreme outdoor weathering conditions
Sanding	Sanding lightly between coats for a smooth finish (using no 400).
Top Coat 2	Finally, the 2nd top coat is applied as the final finish of the planks. The finishing thickness of the plank is 18 mm
